Beckie trained as a dancer/actor and worked professionally after graduating from Stage School.During this time, in-between auditions and performances, Beckie wanted to make sure that she maintained the fitness levels that were necessary for her profession. This led Beckie to train and qualify as Level 3 Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor whilst working as Head of Dance at The Arts Centre Telford.Fitness has always been something that Beckie has been intrigued by and knew that this needed to be a bigger part of everyday life.
“Being a part of the dance world has always made me focus on body image and as a child, I suffered some bullying because I was a little bigger than others. I didn’t understand the importance at that time of a healthy diet and the positive way in which exercise and fitness can make you feel. I don’t want this to happen to others so anything that I can learn or share, I do. I have used this experience to develop my knowledge and understanding and this is part of the reason why I’d love to be able to spread the message wider”
Beckie has been incredibly motivated by her ability to develop new skills and has recently started weight training. “The stigma that I think women give themselves when weight lifting and being in the weights section of the gym is unfounded. I’ve been taught to lift weights correctly and this has motivated me not only to develop the level of weight I’m lifting, but also to constantly challenge myself and become stronger”
Becoming a personal trainer and yoga instructor has encouraged Beckie to change in the way in which she thinks about all elements of fitness for the body and mind: this has worked hand in hand with her fitness regime and with weight lifting as she has felt better able to understand how her body works and what she can do to.Beckie believes that social media is an important platform to share personal fitness experience and knowledge and has recently started a fitness and lifestyle blog.
Beckie has a number of personal clients and also support local business working with British Gymnastics and Pace Health Gym (based at the Park Inn Hotel, Telford) to deliver yoga and fitness classes and has a regular yoga class at TACT (The Arts Centre Telford)
“I love the idea of being able to promote health and fitness and I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve whatever they put their minds to. It’s been invaluable for me to have personal support and mentoring to help me on my journey and I want to be able to do that for other people. People of all ages and backgrounds whose needs are different all strive to have fit and healthy lifestyle. The importance of good nutrition and how supplements can help to support this where used correctly, will be an important part of this year. That’s why I’m so excited to work with Nutrivalut
